My Coaching Style
-
Trauma-Informed
Transformation and growth can only happen when you feel safe enough to connect with and explore the wisdom within your body. Understanding the deep and prevalent impact of trauma on individuals and communities allows me to support you safely in ways that are most comfortable for you.
-
Collaborative
Each somatic session evolves as a collaboration. I guide you to bring awareness to your body, and together, we meet whatever arises. We follow the pace and path that is safest and most supportive for you in each moment, knowing that the body and mind need time to integrate new experiences and understandings.
-
Authentic
I strive to show up to every interaction in my own authenticity, and I prioritize creating an energetic space that allows you to feel safe to do the same. Having the freedom of authenticity allows us to build a strong foundation of trust as we work together.
-
Curious
During somatic coaching sessions, all sensations, emotions, and thoughts, are welcomed and met with curiosity rather than judgment—even the challenging and unpleasant ones. Together we get to explore from a lens of curiosity how your body responds to various thoughts and emotions.
Somatic practices rebuild the relationship between body and mind, restoring our wholeness and reminding us of our full potential.
My Somatic Journey
How It Started
It was a May morning, and I thought I was having a heart attack. A trip to the ER, followed by visits with a cardiologist, showed that my heart was actually fine. So what was happening?
In a way I couldn’t ignore, my body was finally speaking loud enough to get my attention. What followed were months of anxiety, revealing that there was a lot more going on inside me that I hadn’t been addressing.
I started searching for ways to ease that anxiety—acupuncture, chiropractic care, yoga, meditation, even Epsom salt baths. Each of them helped, but after a while, I realized I was spending all my time just managing the anxiety. It felt like I was caught in an endless cycle of trying to keep it under control, and anxiety was running my life.
The Somatic Path
Then, I stumbled across somatic practices. As I explored them, both on my own and with a somatic practitioner, I started to understand something that changed everything: my body held wisdom I hadn’t been paying attention to. By tuning into the sensations in my body and learning to “listen” to the messages it was sending, I began to connect with the anxious part of me in a new way. Instead of fighting it or wishing it away, I met it with compassion and curiosity. I allowed myself to hold space for it, understanding that it was trying to protect me.
And slowly, the need for my body to send those anxious signals started to quiet. The anxiety didn’t have to scream for my attention anymore because I was finally listening.
I won’t say that anxious part of me never shows up—it still does, but less often and in gentler ways. And when it does, I no longer try to push it away. Instead, I notice its presence and get curious about the message it has for me. Working with somatic practitioners has helped me do this with all of my other emotions and sensations, too. Through this work, I have also developed greater compassion for the emotions and experiences of others, and I’m evolving into a more present and authentic partner and mother. And the more I grow, the more space I find for connection, understanding, and curiosity.
How It’s Going
Somatic practices have empowered me to live in a state of wholeness, with my body and mind working together in the ways they were designed to. This journey has inspired me to help others find that same sense of wholeness. I’ve since become a certified trauma-informed somatic coach, and the work I do with clients has become one of the most meaningful parts of my life.
